Considerations Before You Buy Roman Shades

Things To Take Into Account Before Buying New Roman Shades

Roman shades are a great window treatment for any room that needs a finishing touch.  If you think your windows are blah looking and want to get something to liven them up select a rich fabric or one with a pattern.  The great thing about roman shades is that everybody makes them.  So if you want a cordless roman shade, a designer look, or an easy to raise window treatment look no further! This article will help you out with your shade design choices so you can buy roman shades right the first time.

If you are considering buying  roman shades, but want a cordless option with top down/bottom up, then check out Levolor.   All of the fabric choices are available in both the cordless and cordless top down/bottom up feature.  There are size constraints however, which let’s face it; even though you may want a cordless top down/bottom up roman shade on your patio window, it may not be a good idea.  Just think about it for a minute. Do you really want to have to bend all the way down to the ground and get on your tip toes to raise and lower the shade each day?  I didn’t think so.  Keep that in mind, cordless and cordless top down/bottom up are really only a good idea when you can easily reach the shade.

Are you looking for a tailored designer look?  Then look at Bali’s Custom Tailored Roman Shades.  They come in three visual looks: Looped, Classic and Seamless.  The looped look gives you the traditional looped roman shade, while classic is a flat loop look.  Seamless is great for more contemporary rooms because you get the same great loops at the bottom of the shade when it is raised, but the rest is one continuous shade without any horizontal lines cutting across the fabric.  Bali’s Custom Tailored Roman Shades come in a variety of rich fabrics, that include silks, stripes and tapestry weaves.

If you are looking for the most control options, then consider Hunter Douglas’s Vignette Modern Roman Shades.  They have my favorite control, Ultra Glide.  This is a great cord control because it always stays the same length.  It is also great for anyone who doesn’t have a lot of strength.  To lower the shade, you pull at a 45 degree angle to the right. To raise the shade, you pull at the same angle but to the left.  It will take two or three pulls on the retractable control to get the shade all the way to the top.  But for anyone who is losing strength in their arms, they will appreciate it.  Vignette is also the only shade that let’s you choose the size of your loops, you can have 3″, 4″ or 6″ loops depending on the style you choose.

There are many companies and types of roman shades out there, here were just 3 companies that have something specific to offer.  Before choosing your shade, take a look at what each style has to offer.  I suggest also making a list of what is important to you feature wise, depending on what you use each window for.
