So with this range comes different hardness, finishes and surfaces.  Obviously this huge price range depicts different wood species, board thicknesses content of real wood, brand and process.  So what about the cost of installing hardwood?  This is important if you have a budget you are working with and need to figure out the total cost before choosing your flooring.

Basically what I’m saying is that the cost of installing new hardwood floors is never as cut and dry as you expect. It’s important to educate yourself before you get started.  A good rule of thumb is to realize that basic install for hardwood flooring on average runs roughly $2-$4 a square foot, and that’s just if you are ready for new flooring.  Expect another average $1-$4 just for prep work, and removal of existing flooring.  Here is a website I found helpful, just remember these are averages, the costs in your area will vary.
