Deciding on window treatments for sliding doors can be difficult enough without adding the dreaded “which one do I choose” factor.  Many people get stumped when it comes to window treatments for sliding doors, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

There are many window treatment options out there, you just have to do a little research to find out what will be right for you.  Here are a few options to help you decide what type of window treatment is right for your home!

Window Treatments For Sliding Doors

The most common window treatment for sliding glass doors are vertical blinds.  They come in a variety of colors, fabrics and styles.  Whether you need a room darkening vertical blind, a cheap vertical blind or something custom and more expensive like a Hunter Douglas vertical blind, the options are virtually limitless.

If you have other blinds in that same room and are changing them at the same time, check out the coordinating window treatments post to find out what your options are.

If you don’t like vertical blinds, consider using a 1″ mini blind, cellular shade, roller shade or pleated shade and either using 2 blinds for the window or breaking up 1 blind into 2 on 1 headrail. This way you can independently operate each side of the shade, which comes in handy when you can open the side the door opens from, but leave the other side down.  Make sure you use a blind that has a short stack, otherwise you run the risk of hitting your head on the blind everytime you go in and out of the door!

Another alternative to the vertical blind, is a cellular shade in a vertical application,  or sliding panels,  both of these shades open up to the right or the left, instead of horizontally. Cellular shades in a vertical application are increasing in popularity but do come with a higher price tag than standard cellular shades.

No matter your style or budget there are many options out there for window treatments for sliding glass doors.  It just takes a little research and a little patience to find the one that fits right into your decor!
