Getting ready to buy a new couch for your living space?  There are a few things you should do before you hit the showroom to look for new living room furniture.

First take measurements!  You know the old adage “measure twice, cut once.”  It applies to this situation. There is no reason to go looking at sofa’s if you only have room for a loveseat!  Or if a loveseat is all that will fit through your front door or up your stairs!  Measure the space you have available for the new couch to fit in.  Make sure to get the length and the depth.

Make sure you are accounting for end tables if you are going to be using them.  You don’t want to purchase new end tables too, only to find out they won’t fit!  Now measure your door ways, your stairs, the elevator and anything that will make in obstacle in bringing that new couch home.

Consider the fabric the new couch comes in.  If you have pets or kids you want to make sure to get something that can handle abuse.  Like something with a removable washable slip cover,  a microfiber or a pattern that hides things.  You don’t want to go through all the trouble of finding the perfect couch only to have something happen to it that could of been avoidable!
