I just noticed a new product at a home improvement store called Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformations. Even though I haven’t tried it yet, it piqued my interest and deserves mentioning. It’s a do-it-yourself cabinet refacing system.
Which brings us to why it piqued my interest. Cabinet refacing is costly. Wouldn’t it be great if you could improve the look of your kitchen by doing all the work yourself? And at a fraction of the cost? The Rustoleum Cabinet Transformations kit costs just under $80 and with the exception of paint brushes, tape and tarps has everything you need to complete the project.
If Rust-Oleum’s Cabinet Transformations really does everything it says. Which I believe it will because of how well other Rust-Oleum other products work, this could be a revolutionary new product for kitchen remodels. Especially in this economy.
If you go to the Rust-Oleum website you can watch a video on the entire Rustoleum Cabinet Transformation process from start to finish. It is a great informative video and will let you know exactly what you are getting yourself into before starting the project.
One thing I did notice is that the website says it is a great weekend project. However if you use the decorative glaze option I’d make sure you have a long weekend, at least three days.
Because you wait between each step before you can proceed to the next one and you really can’t use your kitchen until everything is completed. That being said I still think that Cabinet Transformations by Rust-Oleum is very promising and could make the do-it-yourself kitchen makeover more doable.
