There is a new product out there for making over your countertop called Rust-Oleum Countertop Transformations. Like other products out in this space, there’s a mult-step process that will help transform your existing countertops and give your kitchen an updated look. I’ve already posted about another product called Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformations. Both products by Rust-Oleum sound amazing to use. They’re definitely something to try if you want to revitalize and transform your countertops without spending a lot of money.  Check out the five step process for making over your countertop with Rustoleum Countertop Transformations:

First, Clean and sand your countertop. You will want to make sure you are wearing protective eye wear, dust mask and gloves. You will also use the sanding tool included in the kit.

Second, apply adhesive base coat. (Make sure you tape off the areas you don’t want to get paint on prior to this step) Use a 2″ synthetic brush and work back to front applying a thick coat of the adhesive base coat. Coat the backsplash first and then the countertop. On the countertop, use a 6″ long high density roller.

Now go ahead and spread decorative color chips. While the adhesive base coat is still wet, go ahead and apply the decorative color chips. There is a chip spreader in the kit that you will use to coat the countertop evenly.

Okay, now it’s time to sand the surface smooth. After waiting 24 hours for the decorative chip step to drive, sand the countertop smooth with the same sanding tool used in step number one.

And finally for a last step, apply protective top coat.  Use the 2″ synthetic paint brush to apply the protective top coat to the backsplash and then use a 6″ long high density foam roller to apply to the countertop and edge.

As you can see from the steps above, the process is pretty straight forward. If you go to Rust-Oleum’s website or check out YouTube for videos, you can see product how easy the product is to use.  Check them out to see if Rustoleum’s Countertop Transformations are right for your next kitchen project!
